Principals: Nominate your school’s best educator for the 2010-11 APS Teacher of the Year!

Atlanta Public Schools’ principals may nominate a representative who meets the following criteria:

* certified public classroom teachers (with a clear and renewable certificate or life certification) from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 may be nominated, including special education, physical education, art, music, and media specialists
* an exceptional, dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled teacher planning to continue in active teaching status
* inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn
* has the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues
* plays an active and useful role in the community as well as in the school
* is poised and articulate and possesses the energy to withstand a taxing schedule
* a tenured teacher with Atlanta Public Schools who has not been placed on a Professional Development Plan (PDP) within the past two years
* a teacher who is focused on student success with an obvious history of increasing student achievement and attainment of the system’s strategic goals (i.e. the teacher that moves the highest number of students from the bottom quartile)
