UPDATE: Grady trounced McNair 33-6, while North Atlanta got past South Atlanta 13-6. Check out the photo gallery here.
Football season kicks off tonight in the newly renovated Grady Stadium between Atlanta Public Schools’ (APS) North Atlanta and South Atlanta high schools, which starts at 5:30 p.m., and McNair vs. Grady (APS) high schools, which starts at 8 p.m. The stadium is one of two owned and managed by APS. Built in 1948, it is the only high school stadium in Atlanta that is located on a high school campus. The stadium was used as a training site for athletes during the 1996 Olympic Games, and occasionally has hosted public practices for the Atlanta Falcons. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Grady Stadium reopening will take place later this fall.
