Carver High School’s School of the Arts in the city of Atlanta is the home of the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble. The UYHE is incorporated into the curriculum of the school as the Harp Academy of Carver, as well as offering an After School Program for 5th-12th graders who do not attend the high school.
Take a LISTEN  to this musical endeavor, the brainchild of Elisabeth Remy, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Principal Harpist, and Roselyn Lewis, an Atlanta Public Schools music teacher.
The Urban Youth Harp Ensemble began in the fall of 2000 with two students at Brown Middle School in Atlanta before moving to its current home at Carver High School.
It currently numbers more than 65 students who receive free instruction on the harp either during or after school.
In addition to its school-year program, the UYHE holds a week-long summer camp at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School located in the mountains of north Georgia which includes ensemble rehearsals, private lessons, supervised practice, classes in music theory and music history, and recreation.
