Students from Carver, Grady, Mays, Maynard Jackson, and Washington High School, who participated in the “Everyone Can Achieve” summer program, had an opportunity to meet Governor Nathan Deal and First Lady Sandra Deal. The Governor and Mrs.Deal interacted with the students as they toured the Atlanta Dream Center facilities, including a sound room for videography and a social media room.
“It was extremely exciting that the students had an opportunity to meet their Governor,” says Arlena Edmonds, Graduation Coach at Maynard Jackson High School. “They learned the Governor’s mission in regards to the workplace, learning development, and career path.”
“Everyone Can Achieve” is the Fulton County Republican Party’s Teen Summer Jobs Program. Their goal is to ensure that Georgia maintains a strong and reputable workforce by providing young teens with the skills they need to thrive in the workplace. The students were trained in work ethic, business etiquette, interview skills, and entrepreneurship.
“I walked in the doors of ‘Everyone Can Achieve’ to find a job, and I came out with my dreams sitting in the palm of my hand. With help from my mentors, I am now the new owner of a growing dance fitness company called Move Your Feet,” says Jaketa Ross, rising junior at Maynard Jackson High School.
