Operation HOPE Partners with Bunche Middle School to Promote Financial Literacy

Operation%20HOPE%20LogoOperation HOPE recently provided a summer internship opportunity for students at Bunche Middle School. The internship was held at the HOPE Financial Dignity Center Atlanta at Ebenezer Baptist Church from July 29th to July 31st for two hours each day. During the internship students learned about success and achieving goals. Additionally, they visited the King Center and learned about important history and civil rights activists who fought for freedom.

“For many of the students, this was their very first time visiting the center,” said Tara Dennis, Operation HOPE’s Youth Empowerment Portfolio Manager.

The internship ended with an inspiring program. During the program the interns reflected on their experiences, takeaways and their motivation to succeed during the upcoming school year.oh

“Through this program I learned that no matter where you come from you can always achieve success as long you work to execute your ideas,” said Shandrea Lockhart, a rising 9th grader and former Bunche student.

Operation HOPE is a non-profit organization that’s mission is silver rights empowerment, making free enterprise work for everyone. The program provides workshops and lessons focused on financial literacy empowerment for youth. Students are given access to knowledge and tools needed to take control of their financial futures—with a message of empowerment, responsibility, and hope. The summer internship was free of charge to all participating students.

“I hope the students take away a sense of self-confidence from this experience and know that they can do anything they put their minds to,” said Tara Dennis. “This is only the beginning of our partnership with Bunche, and we hope to have a relationship with the school for many years to come.”
