APS Buses Conduct Practice Run July 29
ATLANTA – Atlanta Public Schools bus drivers will conduct a practice run on all bus routes Wednesday, July 29 from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in preparation for the first day of school—Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The purpose of the practice run is for bus drivers to become familiar with their routes within the school neighborhoods, improve accuracy of timing during current traffic patterns, and to estimate the pick and drop off schedules for students and their families. APS buses travel 21,904 miles per day transporting 24,000 students to and from school.
Motorists should be aware that APS bus drivers will run their routes in real time, making stops, dropping bus arms and opening doors on the busy streets of Atlanta during morning and afternoon rush hours.
Who: Atlanta Public Schools Transportation Department bus drivers
What: A practice run on all APS routes in real time during morning and afternoon rush hours in preparation for the first day of school, Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Where: Buses will depart from the following locations:
Metropolitan Bus Depot and Lakewood Bus Depot
1661 Metropolitan Parkway, SW 70 Claire Drive, SW

Excellent idea. Thanks for the heads up. Will APS consider having monitors on buses that are having problems with discipline. This will provide more safety on the bus, giving the bus driver more support. This would also cut down on bus referrals to each campus.
