Atlanta Falcons, United Way of Greater Atlanta and Atlanta Public Schools Team Up for Hometown Huddle

Falcons2015-256Today in all cities across the country, for the 17th year, the NFL and United Way celebrated Hometown Huddle. The Atlanta Falcons, other NFL players, coaches and executives, participated in a series of volunteer community projects in seven Atlanta Public Schools campuses – Bethune, Connally, Jones and Venetian Hills Elementary schools; Brown Middle School, KIPP STRIVE Academy Primary and KIPP W.A.Y.S. Academy.

Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria J.  Carstarphen, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and members of the Atlanta Board of Education also joined the players, students and staff for the fun health-focused day. Falcons players and cheerleaders promoted physical fitness as a part of the NFL’s PLAY 60 initiative.

For the past eight years, the Falcons have been the only team to have its entire roster scheduled to participate. The Falcons 53-man roster and practice squad participated alongside alumni, several Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders and members of the Atlanta Falcons Women’s Association made surprise appearances around metro Atlanta.
