“Teachers at my student’s school have high standards for achievement.”
“Teachers at my student’s school work hard to make sure that students do well.”
These are two of the 24 statements parents are asked to consider on the 2015-2016 Georgia Parent Survey. All Atlanta Public Schools parents are encouraged to complete the online survey from the Georgia Department of Education, regarding the climate of their child’s school, by Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at http://apps.gadoe.org/schoolclimate/parents.nsf/Survey.xsp
The data will be combined with that from the Georgia Student Health Survey II and the Georgia School Personnel Survey to determine each school’s Climate Star Rating.
School climate refers to the quality and character of school life as it relates to norms and values, interpersonal relations and social interactions, and organizational processes and structures, according to the National School Climate Center. School climate sets the tone for all the learning and teaching done in the school environment and it is predictive of students’ ability to learn and develop in healthy ways.
The Georgia Parent Survey is also modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.
NOTE: Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.
