Atlanta Public Schools partnered with Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) for the third annual Winterfest on Dec. 8, 2021. The celebration was held at Hollis Innovation Academy and Miles Elementary. Special guests such as Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring and Atlanta United FC goalkeeper Brad Guzan were in attendance, along with ambassadors from Mercedes-Benz USA and Safe Kids USA.
Dr. Herring described the event as “an opportunity for us, with our partners, to celebrate and pour into our parents, staff, students, and our community as we go into the holiday season. Mercedes-Benz USA is Atlanta Public Schools’ partner of the year and for us, that means so much. Not only have they invested time and talent and hundreds of hours of volunteer service but then there are moments like this where we are directly giving back to the community”.
This end-of-year celebration helps the local communities through MBUSA’s commitment of time, talent and treasure, and further fulfills the MBUSA mission to educate and empower the next generation through our collaboration with our corporate social responsibility partners. Families and community members received Honey Baked hams, with a total of 800 hams distributed at Miles Elementary and Hollis Academy. In addition to the free hams, the attendees enjoyed a special program for students led by MBUSA Corporate Social Responsibility partner, Safe Kids USA.
“This partnership is important because we believe in driving students’ futures… We want to make sure the students are well equipped to go to school which means well-fed also and happy. It’s a good safe place to come to,” said Kat Reynolds, Corporate Social Responsibility supervisor for Mercedes-Benz USA, regarding the five-year partnership between MBUSA and APS.
APS looks forward to its continued partnership with MBUSA and a happy holidays to all of the families and community members of Atlanta Public Schools.
