Mays High School Students to Enjoy the Cricket Celebration Bowl, Thanks to the Coca-Cola Co.

350 Benjamin E. Mays High School students will watch two of the nation’s top HBCU football teams battle against each other in the 2021 Cricket Celebration Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA! The bowl game featuring Jackson State University vs. South Carolina State University is expected to record its highest attendance rate to date.

On Monday, Dec. 13 representatives from The Coca-Cola Co. and the Cricket Celebration Bowl announced it would gift students and their guests with tickets to the bowl game. The surprise pep rally was well attended by students from every grade level and featured performances by the Mays High School marching band and cheerleaders. The company’s desire to gift high school students with bowl tickets stems from its mission to raise awareness about historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), encouraging students to attend an HBCU.

The Coca-Cola Co. has a long history of supporting HBCUs through various sponsorships, athletic programs, scholarships, and more. Coca-Cola is a lead sponsor of the Cricket Celebration Bowl (the bowl game between the champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and the Southwestern Athletic Conference — the two prominent conferences of HBCUs). Coca-Cola intends to leverage the bowl as a moment to further celebrate and invest in HBCUs and to communicate the company’s ongoing commitment to them.

The Cricket Celebration Bowl is an annual celebration of the heritage, legacy, pageantry, and tradition of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This year’s game will air live at 12 EST on ABC.
