Sharod McClendon is the inaugural class Valedictorian of B.E.S.T. Academy.
B.E.S.T. Academy is a single gender school for boys that opened in 2007 with 6th grade students. They will now celebrate their inaugural graduating class during a joint ceremony with Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, a single gender school for girls, on May 23 at 6 p.m.
Sharod attributes his academic success to the continued support and encouragement of his mother, Shanicka McClendon, and educators from multiple schools who served as guides along the way: Mrs. Shelton, Ms. Scott and Ms. Searls (Centennial Place Elementary); Mr. Hardy (Grady High School); and Dr. Jones, Ms. Jackson, Mrs. Young and Mr. Walker (B.E.S.T. Academy High School).
Sharod describes his high school experience as challenging, yet rewarding. He looks forward to the next four years with great anticipation, and plans to spend that time at Louisiana State University, where he will major in Journalism and Pre-Law.
Sharod’s career goal is to become an Intellectual Property Attorney.
