On March 2, 2013, Centennial Place School Foundation hosted the second annual 5k run at the George Institute of Technology. Despite the freezing weather and snow flurries, the event was a great success with over 190 registrants.  The event hosted runners of all ages and welcomed out of town visitors who wanted to participate in the race.  Centennial Alumni volunteered by directing the race route, passing out water cups, and taking photos of the event.  Atlanta’s Q Parker was the race announcer and led warm up exercises for the racers.  The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Strong4Life sponsored health education on site.  This gave the participants an opportunity to learn about calorie value of sweetened drinks.  The downtown community was very supportive of the event by sponsoring in-kind and monetary donations.  Centennial’s 5k showcase the school through its business partners and sponsors, while motivating the community to exercise and have fun.
