The eighth grade class from Atlanta Preparatory Academy, an Atlanta Public Schools’ charter school, spent the day at historic Booker T. Washington High School—Early College on Friday, May 10, 2013.  Atlanta Preparatory Academy will close at the end of the current school year.

The thirty-one eighth graders, led by their counselor, Mutiat Wilson, and accompanied by their English Language Arts and Mathematics teachers, received the red carpet treatment.  Media Specialist Jerol Smith and Class of ’64 graduate Reginald Starr gave the students a grand tour of the historic facilities.

Interim Principal George G. Rutledge invited the students to visit us after learning that their school would close.  Rutledge treated the students to a special lunch in the renowned Chef Elite Café.

The students were impressed with the academics and the facilities offered by Washington Early College.  Many students expressed an interest in attending Early College this coming school year.
